Biodesign material has been designed to maintain strength throughout the remodeling process, so there is no need for cross-linking. And because Biodesign material is remodeled completely into strong, vascularized tissue, it can provide a strong hernia repair without a permanent material.
Fistula Plug Non–dermis-based
Biodesign material is non–dermis-based, so it does not contain meaningful amounts of elastin. As a result, the body completely remodels Biodesign hernia grafts into patient tissue that has an organized deposition of collagen.

Expiration dates have mostly to do with sterilization and not the integrity of the product. The manufacturers sterilize the products after they are packaged and it lasts so many years. The only products we caution customers about are ones that are absorbable or drug coated.
