Boston Scientific PCB6020135 Peripheral Cutting Balloon (PCB) is designed to minimize vessel trauma with its unique mechanism of action.

INTENDED USE/INDICATIONS FOR USE

The Peripheral Cutting Balloon catheters are indicated for Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty (PTA) of obstructive lesions of synthetic or native arteriovenous dialysis fistulae.

Multiple Studies report Peripheral Cutting Balloon (PCB) Angioplasty has better reported patency and less patient discomfort compared to high-pressure PTA (HPBA) for resistant AV fistula lesions.

Boston Scientific PCB6020135 Peripheral Cutting Balloon Mechanism of Action

The unique mechanism of action focuses dilatation force at the tips of the atherotomes at 6-10 ATM. PCB is designed to score then gently dilate the lesion, minimizing barotrauma and propagating controlled plaque disruption through the lesion.The result of this unique mechanism of action has been shown to provide better 6 and 12 month primary patency in AV fistulae compared to both high-pressure and conventional angioplasty.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

  • Use of the Cutting Balloon Device is contraindicated in situations where the Cutting Balloon Device would be passed through the struts of a previously placed stent as the deflated Cutting Balloon Device could become entangled in the stent.
  • The Peripheral Cutting Balloon Device is not for use in the coronary arteries or carotid arteries.
  • The Peripheral Cutting Balloon Device is not intended for the expansion or delivery of stents.

Expiration dates have mostly to do with sterilization and not the integrity of the product.  The manufacturers sterilize the products after they are packaged and it lasts so many years.  The only products we caution customers about are ones that are absorbable or drug coated.
